A Community Multi Use Facility

Vernon has experienced phenomenal growth in the last few years and the needs of the community are changing. More than ever, as our city grows, we need symbols and traditions that unite our citizens and strengthen our community. The development of a first-class Multi-Sport outdoor facility would serve as a catalyst for promoting active and healthy lifestyles and would foster strong community values as our city continues to grow and change.

Research indicates youth who are involved with sport and recreation are less likely to commit petty vandalism, are more likely to stay in school and have a better understanding of teamwork and respect – lessons which last a lifetime.

When the Funtastic Sports Society was first envisioned in 1985, the mission of the board was to ensure more opportunities are available for residents to participate in sport and recreation. As such, with parks and recreation partners, Funtastic Sports Society provided investment of more than $1,000,000 in sport fields and playgrounds.

Times have changed and in the past three years the society board of directors have recognized the needs of not-for-profit agencies at the grassroots of sport and recreation initiatives require financial support. As such, the society launched the Funtastic Community Grant program. Since 2009, the Funtastic Sports Society has granted $100,000 to support local not-for-profit partners with their sport and recreation initiatives.

The Funtastic Sports Society continues to be  a strong advocate for a Multi Sport facility. Today, Funtastic Sports Society is building a legacy through supporting partner agencies that will benefit residents from all walks of life today and well into in the future.
