Join us – together we’re building a better community through sport we can all be proud of.
President Jamie Austin
I have been involved with Funtastic since moving to Vernon in 2004, as a player, volunteer, board member, Vice President, and now president of the Funtastic Sports Society.
We look forward to seeing all the ball players, sponsors, vendors, and volunteers at this years event.
Here’s to making 2024 one of the best Funtastic yet.
Vice President Craig Baker
My name is Craig Baker. I was born and raised in Salmon Arm and started playing ball at three. I’ve never stopped.
After moving to the coast at 18 for 10 years or so, and traveling up to Vernon for many Funtastic weekends. I met my wife and we decided to move back up to the interior.
Vernon it was. Since we moved here I haven’t missed a Funtastic event.
After taking advantage of the tourney for many years I decided to give back and started volunteering. One thing led to another and now I’m on the board
Treasurer Leanne Wickenheiser
I am Leanne Wickenheiser and I am excited to be on the Funtastic board of directors for another term.
I was born in Vernon and love living in the beautiful Okanagan.
I’ve been involved with slow pitch since 2000, playing locally including the Funtastic ball tournament since 2006.
It’s so rewarding to be involved in planning such a great tournament and I look forward to being a small part of such a great event.
I encourage all those groups that qualify to register for this year’s grant program. A program that I’m proud of helping with. The community grant program is just one part of Funtastic’s mission to “build a better community through sport.”
Secretary Vinil Sood
Vinil has been living in Vernon for over 10 years. He works with the Quality Inn and Suites Hotel here in Vernon. Vinil is also a registered mortgage broker here in BC.
Vinil is excited to be on the board of directors for Funtastic and help with this amazing event.
Director Jeff Johnson
My name is Jeff Johnson and I am honoured to be a director on the board for Funtastic. I am president and founder of Bailey Way Entertainment Inc. an award songwriting and production company and a father of two boys. I have volunteered for several organizations including Variety’s Children Charity, BC Cancer Association in a performance capacity and wrote a theme song “Follow your Heart” which has been featured on the annual Telethon. I am passionate about the community, volunteering, sports and music and Funtastic seemed to combine all of that and more. I am excited to support this great Non-profit organization to give back to sport and the community while celebrating Music and Entertainment.
Director Akbal Mund
I moved to Vernon in 1993, and have been involved with Funtastic since 1994; from player, Board Member, Vice President, President, General Manager in charge of overall operations of the event. Now, back as a Board Member, I have been involved in many large events in Vernon; President 2012 BC Winter Games, Vice President 2017 Special Olympic Games, Director 2014 Royal Bank Cup, President North Okanagan Soccer Association, Vice Chair Vantage One Credit Union, Director Armstrong Regional Co-Op, Director Kindale Association, President North Okanagan Sports Society, former Mayor of Vernon 2014-2018, sitting Counsellor since 2018, as well as numerous other volunteer activities.
Director Ryan McGiverin
I am a local fireman who gets a thrill from playing ball and putting out fires. I enjoy long walks on the beach and playing in the water.
Director Glenn Schmidt
Glenn is a new director who is on the quiet side….too shy to even share any details about himself.
Director Rick Windsor
Rick Windsor has lived in the Greater Vernon area since 2006. After a ten year hiatus from Funtastic he is back to serve with new perspectives and energy. His experience as an entrepreneur in the tourism industry throughout the valley has provided him with knowledge and skills that serve him in many aspects of life. Rick and his family are proud to be serving the community.
Executive Manager Diana Williamson
I have been involved with Funtastic, in some capacity, for 21 years.
Looking for a way to be involved with my community, I saw an ad looking for Funtastic directors and that was the beginning. From being a director overseeing guest services and scoreboards, to secretary and President, to sharing the Managerial role and to now becoming the Executive Manager of this organization I have seen so much growth.
The ability to host an event the capacity of Funtastic with the goal of giving back to this community is something I take great pride in.
